Sean C. Mason

Sean Mason assists clients in all phases of estate planning, trust administrations, and probate, including drafting and implementing the initial estate plan, closing the estate, and distributing assets.  He works diligently with clients to minimize or eliminate adverse tax consequences and the costs of estate administration.

Sean became a certified mediator while still in law school and strongly believes that the best solutions come through being cooperative not adversarial.  His strong background in mediation and communication have made Sean uniquely qualified to help clients identify and address family relationship concerns that can ruin an otherwise well prepared estate plan.

Community involvement is very important to Sean.  He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the American Youth Soccer Organization, the Santa Barbara Family YMCA, Life Chronicals, and Chain of Hearts. He also serves as volunteer staff for Santa Barbara Soccer Club.  Previously, he was a 6 year member of the Board of Trustees for Santa Barbara Charter School and a volunteer for Visiting Nurses and Hospice Care of Santa Barbara.

Sean is a member of the California Bar Association and Santa Barbara County Bar Association.

He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from University of California at Santa Barbara (1988), and a Juris Doctorate from Whittier Law School (1994).  At Whittier Law School he founded the Whittier Law School Alternative Dispute Resolution Group.  He is admitted to practice in California (1994), and was certified as a mediator by the Los Angeles County Bar Association (1992).

He lives in Santa Barbara with his wife, Jeannie, his daughter, Roxanne, and their dogs, Buck, a 95 pound yellow lab and Quincy, a black toy poodle.

Testimonials

As dumb as it was, I kept putting off doing our wills and trust. I dreaded all the work it was going to take. Sean made the whole process really easy. It wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought. Now, I’m just so relieved that it’s all done. I can rest easy knowing my kids will be taken care of.
