Trust Administration

A trust provides the authority and instructions for someone, the Trustee, to manage assets held in that trust for the benefit for a person or charitable organization, the Beneficiary.   The fiduciary duty of a Trustee is the highest legal duty imposed upon someone.  We assist Trustees in successfully navigating the complexities of their responsibilities.

Trustee responsibilities include:

  • Retitling of assets
  • Ensuring all proper tax returns are filed and other tax issues handled
  • Dealing with creditors
  • Proper distribution of assets to beneficiaries, including facilitating negotiations when necessary
  • Completing all legal recording requirements
  • Collecting lawful, reasonable fees
  • Maintaining protection against litigation
  • Accounting and record keeping
  • Keeping beneficiaries informed
  • Investing trust assets
